An alien's grave site?
Hey Legend Trippers. I haven’t done any posts involving extraterrestrials (aliens) or Unidentified Flying Objects (UFO’s). The fact of the matter is that there a plenty of legends surrounding extraterrestrials and UFO’s. I’ve been interested in UFO’s ever since I saw the movie “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”. Taking my interest further, I joined the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) to see where the sightings were happening. I later became an MUFON investigator.

The challenge with legend tripping and UFO Sightings are that the sightings are pretty sporadic and it’s difficult to lock down an exact location where to observe them all the time. With this being said you can visit places where a UFO has landed or crashed. Most people have heard of the UFO crashing at Roswell in New Mexico? People are always saying that there is no proof that we are being visited by aliens from another planet. Well, nonbelievers, there is a legend out of Texas that just might have that proof. Have you heard of an UFO crashing at Aurora, Texas and the town’s folk recovered the dead alien pilot and buried him in the town cemetery? It’s true and it happened back in 1897. There is sign at the entrance that relates the story.

The town's history book labels the community as "the town that almost wasn't," and this statement is directly related to the legend of a spaceship crashing into a windmill, and the burial of a small alien pilot found in the aftermath. Because this event was to become the most important news story to ever come out Aurora, the town was later designated a "historical site" by the State of Texas.
Legend has that on April 17, 1897, a slow moving space ship crashed into a windmill, bursting into pieces. As the debris was searched through, supposedly the body of a small alien was discovered. Originally the alien pilot was dubbed the "Martian pilot." Some of the debris also revealed material sketched with a type of hieroglyphic. The town folk gave the poor little creature a proper burial in the local cemetery. A local newspaper carried the following story:
“About 6 o'clock this morning the early risers of Aurora were astonished at the sudden appearance of the airship which has been sailing around the country. It was traveling due north and much nearer the earth than before. Evidently some of the machinery was out of order, for it was making a speed of only ten or twelve miles an hour, and gradually settling toward the earth.”

The wreckage from the crash site was dumped into a nearby well located under the damaged windmill, while some ended up with the alien in the grave. The town erected a headstone over the grave of the visitor with a spaceship carved on it. Unfortunately, the headstone was stolen and the exact location of the grave is now known. Because of this theft, you now have to get permission to visit the cemetery. Well legend trippers, if you decide to journey to Aurora which is right outside of Fort Worth, look at the area and ask yourself, “Is it possible that an unknown craft crashed and that the actual alien pilot is buried not far from where you’re standing. It makes you wonder if we are not alone in the universe. Please make sure you get permission. You will get fined for trespassing.
