New issue of American Survival Magazine is out.

Hey Legend Trippers, the new issue of American Survival Guide magazine has hit the newsstands. The new issue features “Survivorman” Les Stroud on the cover. I’m a big fan of his show and it should be noted that Mr. Stroud had a Bigfoot encounter while he was filming an episode of his television series in Alaska. He recently did a show where he and a Bigfoot hunter go looking for the famous cryptid.
Now I know some of you are wondering "What does outdoor survival have to do with legend tripping?" Bottom line, anytime you go into the woods or forest, you need to be prepared for the worst. It's getting to be that time of the year. More and more people are going Bigfoot hunting. In fact, I just put my trail cameras out this weekend. Unfortunately you read everyday about people who have died during these “day hikes”, because they weren’t prepared for the elements when they got lost. I can't stress how important it is to be prepared for going out into the woods, even for a day hike. You don't need a lot of equipment, but you do need some kind of survival kit. I highly recommend bringing a good knife and/or a mulit-tool.
I love American Survival Guide magazine. I have all the recent issues except the second one. The editors have done a great job putting this magazine together. Though I do have quite a library of outdoor survival books, my sons like this magazine because instead of having to read an entire book on survival they can thumb through it and find article they want to read about. I like that fact that editors have done a great job on conducting tests and reviews on new survival equipment on the market. It has come in useful when I’m out buying camping equipment.

The new issue does a great review of new hunting bows and it also features a new item called an adventure bracelet. The bracelet which consist of 550 cord with a lot equipment incorporated into it, like a compass and signal mirror. It does come with some small items, that can get lost easy in the woods, so it that might not be good for young children. Keep that in mind if you are considering purchasing this bracelet or any other survival items for you family. All in all, it does looks pretty neat and I would mind testing it out in the field to see how good it is.

Whenever I take my family out to the woods, I always insure that every member has what I call a "survival necklace". It consists of orange 550 cord with the following items secured to it: a mini light for night time illumination, a whistle to call for help, and a compass for direction. My older kids also have a small folding knife as a backup. The necklace is there in case they get separated from the group and lost. It also gives them a sense of relief in case anything happens.

  1. Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the internet the simplest thing to have in mind of.
I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while folks think about concerns that they
just do not recognize about. You managed to hit
the nail upon the highest and also defined out the whole thing with no need side-effects ,
people could take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
    Thank you
