Do and Don'ts of Legend Tripping

Make a complete plan for the legend trip. Have a plan A and a plan B.	Treat the legend trip as it were a walk in the park
Make a supply/equipment list. Make sure you get everything on it	Assume that there are stores in the area to buy supplies.
Have a briefing with the family or team. Make sure everybody understands the plan.	Be in a rush to leave otherwise you will forget something important
Let other family members where you are going and when you are expected to return	Trespass on private property. It’s against the law
Plan for the worst, Everybody should wear safety necklace.	Wear new boots for hiking trips. You need to break them in before hiking
Bring cell phone chargers for the vehicle and a solar powered charger for hiking	Believe the weather reports. Always assume it will rain. Bring wet weather gear
Try out all new equipment before you go on legend trip	Drink untreated water
Carry water and purification tablets.	Drink alcohol
Get the proper fishing licenses	Leave trash behind
Get lost, stay put and do not move.	Go near wild animals
Bring extra batteries	Bring your family pets
Bring map and compass along with GPS	Change your plan or campsite.
Bring chem-lights for every member, encase flashlight stops working.	Allow young children to have knives or bear mace.
